"Absolutely True Diary of a Part-time Indian" sample blog post
  • Created By Alec Patton
  • Description:
As students read "The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-time Indian", they discussed it on this blog. I've posted a link to one of the posts, but if you explore the blog you'll see there are lots of posts, including two years' worth of posts about "Absolutely True Diary" and one set of posts about "The Fault In Our Stars"
  • Purpose:
This gives students a chance to discuss the book in writing. I like this because it provides an opportunity to practice writing, as well as to see what other people are writing. In a verbal discussion, the most eloquent comments are gone as soon as they are spoken, but on a blog they remain, so other students can imitate their style (obviously, I mean imitate in a positive sense, not in the sense of plagiarism - which is pretty easy to spot on a blog like this anyway!)
